World record attempt for Footprint Friends at Global Scout event!
18 June 2007

Footprint Friends is delighted to announce that we will be present at the World Scout Jamboree and will be attempting a world record for painting feet!

Between 27th July and 8th August, Scouts from nearly every country in the world will be coming to the UK for the 21st World Scout Jamboree – the highlight of the World Scouting calendar.

The Jamboree event that will involve more young people than the Olympic Games, 40,000 Scouts will camp, live and work together at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, for 12 unforgettable days of celebration and international friendship. It will be one of the biggest adventures in the history of the Movement and Footprint Friends will be present in the Global Development Village painting and photographing as many feet as possible as a symbol of the footprints we follow in, create for ourselves and leave behind for those who follow.

At the Jamboree, there will be opportunities for young people to find out about each others’ cultures and faiths, to share skills, take part in adventurous activities and tackle some of the biggest issues facing the world today. There will be practical projects too – working with local communities around Chelmsford, Scouts will make a lasting difference to the local communities and help to improve the quality of the local environment. Footprint Friends will also be attempting a Guinness World Record – we’ll keep you posted!
